UAA Partners with Akademos to Provide Enhanced Access to Affordable Course Materials
The platform brings state-of-the-art technology and more affordable options for students to reduce the cost of attendance
The University of Alaska Anchorage (UAA), largest of the University of Alaska system, has partnered with Akademos to bring an enhanced virtual bookstore experience to students, faculty, staff, and alumni. The new online bookstore and course materials platform has launched to support the University’s 14,500 students for the fall 2020 term.
Seamless integration between UAA and the Akademos course materials platform provides a personalized, first-class customer experience with access to an expanded selection of affordable course materials. Students have the opportunity to use multiple payment options including financial aid on all textbook purchases no matter the material format. The Akademos Guaranteed Buyback program provides additional savings to dramatically lower out-of-pocket course material expenses.
“Shifting to the Akademos platform allows UAA to increase convenience and cost savings while breaking down other barriers to student success,” said Bruce Schultz, UAA vice chancellor for student affairs. “In addition, Akademos provides a number of services and resources that are especially valuable given the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic and the importance of social distancing and increasing virtual offerings for students.”
The University of Alaska Anchorage’s faculty and administration benefit from the comprehensive adoption tools and powerful data and analytics technology. From guided course material adoptions and real-time price comparisons to streamlined data collection and customizable reporting, no other online bookstore solution provides this level of valuable insights into material selection, purchasing, utilization, and overall student success. In addition to supporting the University with a course materials platform, Akademos will provide students and alumni a robust selection of UAA merchandise.
“At Akademos, we’ve seen that access to a comprehensive course materials platform and affordable and accessible textbooks results in more satisfied, prepared students and overall success for the institution,” said Raj Kaji, CEO, Akademos. “We’re excited to partner with the University of Alaska Anchorage, and look forward to providing them with the technology, outstanding support and service, and affordability desired to provide vital and sustainable opportunities for their students.”
