Offering greater accessibility and significant savings for books and merchandise to the university community

We are thrilled to announce our newest partnership with Cardinal Stritch University, a Franciscan values-driven university in Milwaukee, WI committed to continuously encouraging academic excellence and growth among students, staff and faculty. Stritch has selected Akademos as its partner in developing an online store for merchandise and course materials. This partnership will give their students, alumni, and greater university community access to a vast selection of low-cost textbooks and Stritch-branded apparel and merchandise through a personalized online ordering platform. The new online store and course materials platform has launched to support the spring 2021 semester.

Before joining Akademos just a few weeks ago, I worked for many years as a college English instructor at the University of Connecticut. As an “elder millennial” who grew up at the dawn of the Internet age, I was always interested in how the current generation of students relates to technology. I noticed two things: 1] college students are living more and more of their lives online and 2] many students, inundated with technology, crave the embodied experience of the physical campus environment.

Implementing an online bookstore to manage all of the course material logistics doesn’t mean it is necessary to get rid of the on-campus store. Campus stores can be a central location where students frequently gather to shop for spirit wear, grab coffee and snacks, and meet up with peers. Mitchell Technical Institute has partnered with us to manage their course materials while they focus on selling tools, spirit wear and other goods to support their programs, scholarships, and more.

Valentine’s Day is here and love is in the air around college campuses everywhere. This time of year can be a bummer for some but not having a “special someone” doesn't mean you can’t receive some love from friends and family!
